I’m 25 and I first discovered him in high school when I became obsessed with the IFC docu-series A Decade Under the Influence, which inspired me to go to film school. I think it was Dennis Hopper who had some anecdote about his process; how if someone criticized his shooting style, didn’t matter who, he’d hand the camera off to him and be like, “Ok, then you shoot it!” He’s my hero.
